News this morning about $ABUS developing pill for COVID and future coronaviruses, on top of recent win defending LNP patent against $MRNA … this just seems like a gold mine to me. 
(not to mention core business of curing Hep-B)

From what I’m reading it sounds like there are high hopes for the Covid pill.

From the New York Times:

“The Food and Drug Administration is expected to soon authorize a pill made by Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, called molnupiravir, which reduces the risk of hospitalization and death from Covid-19 by 30 percent if taken within five days of the onset of symptoms.”

Will Arbutus have any special treatment, drug or patent that other like Merck and Ridgeback don’t have?

@nathanworden I only know what I read in the news, but yes it sounds like this is a new treatment, perhaps targeting a different protein than the others, that should be effective against variants and other coronaviruses, and ABUS has a worldwide exclusive license. The others are problematic, with Merck only 30% effective and serious side effects, and Pfizer contraindicated for those on medication... But I don't have much detail on this treatment yet, still early days I think.
