I have used Twitter for over ten years and try to curate my account so I am at least fed the illusion that I get see the content that I want to see.

However, since Musknobjockey took over, I’m seeing ads for the most useless crap the world produces and the noticeable lack of recognizable brand ads would indicate that the current state of flux has put big names off spending ad revenue on $TWTR until things settle. On top of that, my timeline is full of posts claiming the end is nigh for Twitter, and it’s gotten to the point where I don’t want to use it.

Breaking the addiction isn’t easy though and alternatives are just not as good at being Twitter, I’ll admit I haven’t given mastodon a chance yet but general feedback seems to be “yeah, but, no”.

I don’t own $TWTR, and it’s highly unlikely that I will, but I do wonder if we’re watching the cult of personality surrounding Musk beginning to turn sour?

And if we are, what does that mean for the other businesses he controls?

Could his clearly massive social capital be losing its value and could that contagion spread to Tesla thus damaging the brand and ultimately, and fundamentally, changing the investment thesis?
