Ford Motor Company

One of the main reasons why I decided to invest in $F is because I started to notice a lot of new Broncos in my neighborhood as well as a few Mach-Es. It's clear that Ford is doing a great job of creating a car lineup that people like, so it makes sense to me to bet on its future and profit from it.

This [article](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/opportunity-ford-motor-companys-nyse-120140949.html) from Yahoo Finance decided to crunch the numbers to determine whether or not it's undervalued, and according to their calculations... it is!

"Compared to the current share price of US$15.9, the company appears quite undervalued at a 36% discount to where the stock price trades currently. The assumptions in any calculation have a big impact on the valuation, so it is better to view this as a rough estimate, not precise down to the last cent."

It's important to note that this is based on 2 assumptions: the discount rate and cash flows. I mentioned what I thought about their current car lineup at the beginning because if people like their cars, then people will buy them, and likely their cash will continue to ~flow~. It was recently announced that [prices for the Mach-E are increasing due to a rise in material costs](https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/ford-hikes-price-of-electric-mustang-mach-e-by-as-much-as-248475-due-to-e2-80-98significant-e2-80-99-battery-cost-increases/ar-AA118bmW?fromMaestro=true).

While [Ford's sales fell](https://247wallst.com/special-report/2022/08/22/top-selling-fords-2/) [6.8% to 1.9 million cars last year](https://247wallst.com/special-report/2022/08/22/top-selling-fords-2/), "A big part of Ford’s EV story is the Mustang Mach-E EV. The Dearborn, Michigan, carmaker sold 27,140 of these electric vehicles, topping the 24,828 sales total of GM’s Chevrolet Bolt EV models and one Hummer EV in 2021."

Ford has been around for a loooooong time, and it's likely it's not going away anytime soon, especially with their current car lineup.

Also seeing a ton more Mach-Es and the people I talk to who have them are as excited about them as the people who bought Tesla's 2-3 years ago. Definitely a 'Peter Lynch' indicator.

the F150 is still the largest sold trucks on the market and I have to say I was a chevy man growing up and now have owed 2 fords, the biggest disappointment is when Ford gave in to the idea of Electric line of trucks and think this will be the worst mistake for them once people see that Electric can not keep up with the heavy demand of trucks.

I think both $GM & $F will become really interesting as the EV component on their sales grow. I don't know the breakdown but EV's are definitely more profitable ICE's. It would be an interesting trade to try to invest in either company as they flip from 60% sales from ICE to 60% sales from EV. At that point they will be fully considered 'electric car companies'.

But I'm not sure if $F is undervalued, looks like their margins are abnormally strong right now. I would be curious if people believe margins are improved due to an increase in EV sales or more so due to their ability to sell higher priced cars. Supply chain shortages are making it difficult to produce X volume of cars so the manufactures seem to be producing a smaller volume but with pricier components to compensate for the loss in overall sales revenue.

The current CEO is such a huge step up from the prior few. I had a good 2021 trade with $F and I bought back on the recent dip. Nice to see them always included when the EVs pump now. I think it’s quite likely a good call, but the recessionary environment isn’t usually great for car companies, so I’m being a little more conservative than last year.
