A few weeks ago I posted a memo articulating the importance of knowing who is at the helm of the companies you invest in. Strong leadership is one of the most important prequalification's to a successful company, and in turn, a successful stock. This memo I want to focus on David Gandler of $FUBO (special shout out to @rick_gurner who asked about David in the comments of the prior memo!)

I highly recommend giving the podcast a listen and also checking out $FUBO which is certainly on sale for Black Friday / Cyber Monday!

$FUBO recently posted earnings on 11/9/21 before the market TANKED it.. much to my chagrin.. however the market is a funny place that does what it wants. **I may not be good at timing the market but I am great at giving the market time!**

**Despite the markets reaction, the quarter was, in my opinion, fantastic.**

The company is at the intersection of two megatrends, Cord Cutting & Interactive Gaming. I will be holding $FUBO long as these trends continue to play out. Who knows, on the gambling and interactive gaming side.. dare I say they can be part of the latest Metaverse trends? Time will tell but I have been adding on the dips and look forward to a bright future for the company.

I’m at the 36 minute mark where he’s talking about world domination and disclosing plans for M&A— I appreciate his description of the ‘breadcrumbs’ he offers investors about future plans.

He can’t say everything because then the asset he’s looking to acquire would have its price go up by 5x. But he does give investors an idea of the direction he’s heading in.

Just had a lightbulb moment at 48:30 when David Gandler talks about “Watch and bet” vs. “Bet and watch”

I’ve never been into gambling— but his description of “Watch and Bet” is more about super fandom and tying your support of a player or team to an outcome that makes you feel more closely aligned with them. 

Instead of looking at odds, making a bet and then going to watch to see if you make money— you’re watching first and the bet is an expression of your support for your team. Losing the bet is still a good outcome because then you feel the loss along with your team. You’re experiencing the loss beside. You ARE on the team.

I think this is a meaningful distinction from traditional gambling. It’s more like putting skin-in-the game so you can be as invested in the outcome of the game as the players themselves.

There’s something very interesting to explore here for all kinds of spectator events.

A bit unrelated but do you know how the Roku/Youtube beef effects $FUBO ? Is YouTube TV removed from Roku? (the paid version)

If so, I would imagine Roku users would now need to find a new way to watch sports and that would benefit Fubo.
