Cracker Barrel was trading at $168 a share right before COVID devastated the restaurant industry. Cracker Barrel had $3.07B in revenue and $223M in net income in 2019.
Fast forward to today, Cracker Barrel is trading at $106 a share with $3.27B in revenue and $132M in net income.
Analysts are estimating Cracker Barrel to grow in the single-digit revenue range for the next 5 years and double-digit EPS growth.
The margin of safety is there but not quite wide enough for me to become seriously interested. Zooming out, Cracker Barrel has been a wonderful stock to own over the very long term, but an extremely volatile stock since 2016.
I would need a strong catalyst to really make the risk-reward of owning Cracker Barrel worth my investment.
P.S. does anyone else have great memories of playing checkers or the tee game there as a kid?
