One day late but this pretty much explains my strategy. Keep my portfolio mostly on stocks that I trust long term, and take smaller higher risk with rest of it. As I learn more, I could switch to more of a Trader mindset as opposed to investor.

As somebody who has been-there-done-that, I gently suggest you stick w/ the investor first mindset. Trading sounds fun and in short bursts, can be rewarding. However, I only know one trader that's still a trader over my 25 year career because, for one reason or another, they all eventually wiped out. Another suggestion could be to a hybrid approach. Example, I label every buy at the onset "forever mindset" or "rental mindset". The forever ideas are mostly buy and hold mindset, while rentals are catalyst driven (biotech, event, etc). Just a humble suggestion. Hope you don't take offense.
