My large alternative asset investment
I had a nice chat with my friend @invesquotes yesterday about the biggest part of my net worth.

I had a majority of my net worth in digital items in the video game Counter Strike Global Offensive. May sound crazy, but let me give a quick run down what it's all about.

Videogame developer Valve(sadly private), introduced digital items(so-called skins) into CSGO in 2013. Players of the popular game (22 million MAU, 0.7 mil DAU) can unbox lootboxes for $2.5 each. These items then are freely tradable with other players. Every item can have 1 out of 1000 different patterns and gets a floating point value between 1 and 0.000000000000 assigned. This makes the items UNIQUE, a major difference to other implementations of digital item concepts. CSGO is by far the most fleshed out and successful ingame item system around.

There are hundreds of websites building million dollar operations and millions of players doing peer to peer trading (via marketplace websites nowadays). The whole market is estimated to be worth north of $10 billion last time I checked.
Many items go for thousands, with the most rare items fetching upwards of $100000.

It is a very complex system and one that occupies millions of people. Below you can see one of my personal investments, my largest one with a current value of $7000.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this little view into a very different asset class. Do you have any alternative investments outside of traditional markets/crypto? Let me know :)
