Investing in stories seems more popular than ever. What are some stories that compelled you to invest?
The Bitcoin story - “A global currency”
I'm also compelled by this one. Especially a neutral, permissionless, censorship-resistant global currency 😃
When I buy into Tesla, I'm not looking at the balance sheet, I'm investing in the story that Elon Musk is looking to extend the longevity of the human race.
How much does the balance sheet come into play later on- if you're concerned that operationally Tesla won't be able to make good on that narrative?
Only as an extra check if a lot of FUD is going around and I need to form my own opinion on whether to be worried or not. In early 2019 a lot of people worried Tesla would go out of business (myself included) but then Elon raised around $2 billion.
My favorite story : the Internet is still in the early innings
Only ~65% of the world even has access to the internet. Think about how frustrated we get with certain software products today in the United States, we are using the most advanced versions of software available and consensus would agree that there is a lot of room for improvement. If the #1 economy in the world has such glaring room for improvement just imagine how much improvement could be made elsewhere in the world.
