Trying to weed out my high conviction names. My #1 learning..can’t do it without being in the wrong names too! Some are compounders 🔥, others are just “pounders”! 🥶

Information Overload - decluttering time!
Hi all! I hope you had a great (personally) summer! I took some time to hang with my family, meet new friends, and catch up with some really old friends.

Upon getting back to my emails, newsletters, and general flow of information, I feel that the first thing I’m doing is cutting down the email & substack subscriptions, followed YouTube channels and analyst reports…Cut the noise! Over the last 3 years my inbox, timelines and other feeds are impossible to go through and properly digest.

Repost/share to see how others feel! Pls comment if you have best practices on how to keep it simple (FYI, I’m talking about “flow of info” related to investing only! )
How many of you feel that you have information overload?
50%Yes - I need to cut back!
37%Yes, but I’m okay with it!
12%No, bring me more info!!!

For me, I have a huge list of resources that I pull info from several times a week, but I make quick decisions then and there if the information is worth my time. I may subscribe to 25-30 different substacks, but maybe only 3-4 of them have something I want to read each week.

Give myself the optionality of data, but keep a lean diet when it comes to consuming. I try to keep my process as insulated as possible in the early steps of studying a business, I don't want outside influence. Then when I have my own ideas, I will see what others think.

Also, welcome back, glad to hear your summer was good :)

$META charges for VR AppStore - charged for “metapocrasy” 🤣
It’s funny how the legal system works (or doesn’t), in this case….$AAPL $GOOGL $META #epic

Excerpt from today’s [Ft.com](Ft.com) article:
“Don’t confuse marketing with reality — it’s good marketing to pick on Apple. But it doesn’t mean Meta won’t do the exact same thing,” Seth Siegel, global head of AI and cyber security at Infosys Consulting. “There is no impetus for them to be better.”

The “Quest Store” for Meta’s Oculus Quest 2, by far the most popular VR headset on the market, takes a 30 per cent cut from digital purchases and charges 15-30 per cent on subscriptions, similar to the fees charged by Apple and Android.”

See that Quest prices have since increased, and there is a new premium vertical for that business (Cambria) coming out later this year.

Sometimes it helps to zoom out…compounding annual returns for a decade or more is what everyone is after. If the indices have yielded 10%++ why even bother with individual stocks beyond the 5-10 must have names that are changing everyone’s lives(you can decide for yourself which ones those are)?!

Following a simple macro perspective here:
  1. The US indices contains companies that operate globally and grow across industries. The world grows, as do these companies

  1. India has a massive middle class and lower middle class moving up in the world, combined with 10 years of structural and economic reform (think China 20 years ago). Huge spending on infrastructure, leapfrogging fixed connections and going wireless and renewables over fossil fuels, huge travel boom internally, and consumer lifestyle spending growth.

What’s your thought that
  1. the indian index may continue to outperform EM and established western markets in this decade?!
  2. Most of us will be better off investing in the index vs individual stocks for the next 3-5 years?

Not advice - do your own DD! 🙏🏽

Betting on Zero $HLF
Watching “betting on zero” on YouTube. $HLF I wonder which companies are out there, manipulating the average person, misrepresenting financials, etc…

Anyone have experience doing dd to find these kinds of companies?
