$SPOT partners with $SHOP to add merch to artists’ profiles

"Spotify this morning announced a new partnership with Shopify that will allow artists on its service to connect their Spotify profiles with their Shopify stores, allowing them to market their merchandise directly to fans through the Spotify app."

This is a smart play - I sold out of $SPOT because I view their offering as becoming commoditized (similar to streaming video) and saw greater growth elsewhere. That said, they're essentially a luxury utility so will likely continue to grow at a nice little clip.

Very bullish on $SHOP

The $COIN NFT platform (main points)
"Creating an NFT should be as simple as tapping a few buttons. Anything more complicated is a barrier to creativity.”

“A key part of that experience is control. We will make it effortless for artists to maintain creative control through decentralized contracts and metadata transparency. All NFTs are on-chain. The initial launch will support Ethereum based ERC-721 and ERC-1155 standards with multi-chain support planned soon after.”

"Your profile will showcase all your NFTs in one place, helping you connect with like-minded fans or artists. The social element shapes the future by sharing passions, birthing new collaborations, and firing up the imagination.”

Coinbase NFT will be an open, rather than an invite-only, platform.

Coinbase NFTs will rely on decentralized metadata solutions like IPFS rather than centralized servers.

Thus you can mint your NFTs on Coinbase and sell them anywhere else; conversely, you’ll be able to list any non-Coinbase NFTs on the platform’s marketplace.

You’ll also be able to use different currencies and different wallet solutions (from MetaMask to Coinbase custodial accounts) for NFT purchases.

Coinbase NFT is going to start with support for Ethereum but plans to support minting and markets across many chains.

The Coinbase NFT platform is going live at some point in Q4 2021.

Wow, thanks for posting this— I am impressed with how much Coinbase is leaning into an open platform here. They're still a centralized service at the end of the day, but they clearly understand how important it is to at least strive to put the control in the hands of the artists. This feels like a step in the direction of innovation. Would love to see them execute here.

Shut up and take our money, Stripe!

Payments giant Stripe says its re-entering the crypto market

“Crypto holds the potential of faster and less expensive payments, particularly in underserved markets,” wrote Edwin Wee (Stripe’s user relations team).
“In 2018, we said that Stripe would ‘look for opportunities to help our customers by adding support for crypto in the future.’ That time has come,”

Comcast’s Sky Unveils Sky Glass Streaming TV, Eliminating Need for Satellite Dish $CMCSA $ROKU
Sky is bringing the smartphone model to TVs with the introduction of Sky Glass in the UK. The video service provider, acquired by Comcast in 2018, will sell the TVs with integrated video and streaming app access for a monthly subscription and no upfront fee.

The cost for the Sky Glass device, depending on its size, starts at 649 pounds ($881.88), or 13 pounds ($17.65) per month. On top of the device, the Sky Ultimate TV Package, which includes Sky’s own channels plus networks covered by its carriage deals with other media companies, will cost 26 pounds a month ($35.32). That means the cheapest device plus the Sky Ultimate content package will cost 39 pounds a month ($52.97).

A playlist feature will allow users to collect their favorite content from across Sky, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon and the like in one place rather than having to jump from one app to another to search for it. Sky Glass also includes voice control and motion technology, meaning the TV will turn on when consumers pass in front of it.

COPPER
  1. The Most Essential Metal for Renewable Energy: According to the Copper Alliance, renewable energy systems can require up to 12x more copper compared to traditional energy systems. Copper demand for annual solar photovoltaic installations could more than double by 2030.
  2. EVs can require up to 4 times as much copper as gasoline vehicles: EVs require copper in batteries, winding, wiring and charging infrastructure.
  3. Operating mines and proposed projects are not meeting projected demand: "We have deficits over the course of 2021 and next year. Inventories will be run down to very low levels, we believe, by the middle of 2022.” —Nick Snowdon, Commodities Strategist, Goldman Sachs

(Copper stocks peaked in May. I recently bought $FCX at $34.50 mainly because it's probably the safest way to enter a position in copper, but also as a hedge against tech stocks.)
