Streaming hits record 30%+ of TV usage
According to a Nielsen report, streaming hit 38.7% of TV usage. Youtube edged out Netflix as the most actively used platform this July.

Rate lock-in
Over 70% of mortgage holders in the US have a sub-5% rate and the majority of these people don't want to sell over the next 3 years (why would they).

I'm not confident in any near-term catalyst for a better housing market.

What are the ripple effects of this? Less travel, less consumer discretionary spending, where else will we see an impact?

Isn't this good though, because credit card spending was too high among consumers and the debt servicing was having its own drag on spending? This YoY change in total card spending might be healthy just to get back to lower levels of household debt.

Multiple expansion
While the $SPY is up 17% this year, Wall Street analysts think companies in the S&P500 will only see earnings per share rise 1% in 2023.

Shares are up, but not so much because companies are doing materially better.
