US College Enrolments
  • We are seeing a third year of declining undergraduate enrolment into colleges in the US.
  • Although the rate of decline is smaller, it is still a lot worse than many predicted by this point.
  • There are, however, some green shoots in spring application data (here and here).
  • Useful for followers of the Education sector.

31 Days, 31 Ideas
With my post on $KO a few minutes ago I have completed a small challenge I set for myself 31 days ago.

I wanted to post 31 ideas about 31 unique companies to both expand my horizons and continue to learn about some of inner workings of companies.

During my time I discovered 4 companies I have never heard of $CHGG $FOSL $NNI and $HOG and got to examine the different business models and learned quite a lot.

At times it was quite hard to find interesting things to talk about especially since earnings season had drawn to a close and I wanted to avoid only talking about earnings reports.

Anyway I enjoyed this, I love this platform and going from 19 followers to 105 in those 31 days was really mind blowing and I appreciate everyone that commented and upvoted or even read my little posts everyday.

I do plan to keep going but I don't know that I am going to post everyday. I hope to provide even more value in the future!
Wow, incredible work! Looking back, I realize I have read the majority of your posts. Didn’t realize it was part of a challenge! Thank you for all the time and effort you put in to these!

$CHGG Impressive Offering
Recently $CHGG announced their Q1 2022 Earnings and it was... Less than ideal. the stock is down more than 30% on the news however the company is not only still growing but I believe they continue to put together an impressive product offering.

Today I want to just look at some of those various product offerings.

To begin we have the original company itself. Chegg was started with the intent of providing an all-in-one online learning platform.

Here is a list of some of the features available on the Chegg site itself.

$CHGG has also been adding other businesses to its core as well.

Thinkful is a 1-on-1 online learning platform built mostly for computer science students. Busuu is their most recently acquired service offering an easy-to-use online language learning platform.

These three segments make up a majority of Chegg's revenue. Despite this Chegg owns a lot of companies.

Overall Chegg, while struggling to generate the explosive revenue growth of the last two years, is in my opinion still an interesting idea worth considering. Especially now that the company is getting cheaper seemingly by the day.

I do have personal experience with the company, specifically Busuu, and have found it to be, in my opinion, the easiest to use language learning app.

At the end of the day, if more teachers offered exams online (and no proctor), then more students will subscribe to $CHGG because Chegg helps students cheat on exams and homework. I doubt those new product offerings will entice more people to subscribe to the platform.
