The ‘Fed Pivot’ Debate
Good morning contrarians! Happy Swiss National Day! As we enter a new week and new month, there is a debate over whether the Fed is indeed pivoting toward neutral interest rate policy. Powell clearly hinted at that during Wednesday’s presser, but was he speaking out of turn?

Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari appeared to walk back Powell’s pivot over the weekend. Or did he? So far the market doesn’t appear too concerned. Futures are down but not by much.

We have earnings today: $L just reported. Later on we’ll get $BIDU and $ATVI.

More on what’s likely to move markets today and this week is here:
Good morning contrarians! We aren’t out of the woods on Russia-Ukraine, or even close. As discussed yesterday, the Russian economy is very much behind the 8-ball and Biden could announce further sanctions in his State of the Union Speech tonight.

The conflict has impacted commodity supply chains pretty significantly, especially where Europe’s energy needs are concerned. If nothing else, it looks like buying any dip in commodities or commodity-related securities may be a wise move.

We also have retailers reporting earnings today, with Target ($TGT) just beating EPS but falling short of revenue estimates. Later we’ll hear from Kohl’s ($KSS), Nordstrom ($JWN), Ross Stores ($ROST), AutoZone ($AZO), and Urban Outfitters ($URBN). We also have ($CRM), Baidu ($BIDU), Domino’s ($DPZ), Wendy’s ($WEN), JM Smucker ($SJM), and Hewlett Packard ($HPE). This all makes for a pretty busy earnings day that will in all likelihood be overshadowed by Russia-Ukraine.

Upcoming Earnings Calendar (Feb 28th - Mar 4th)
Hey guys! Here's the upcoming earnings calendar! Two of my holdings, $SE and $SOFI report next week, so I'll be paying significant attention to both. Other than that, I'm also interested in seeing what retailers like $TGT $BBY and $COST have to say about supply chain issues and inflation.

Good luck to everyone!

February earnings
I think upcoming earnings are going to be really important in this volatile market. Companies will likely get punished (further) on even slightly bad results or outlook, and I'm hopeful strong earnings like we saw with $TEAM or $AAPL will buoy the overall market or at least software sector that I'm playing close attention to.

Personally, I have a handful of companies on my buy list including $CRM, $COUP, $ESTC, $SMAR, $POSH, but will only do so once they make it past earnings either scathed (lower price) or unscathed (peace of mind) :)

So we've put together our most anticipated earnings for all of Feb!

Keep an eye out!

This seems to cast 6 years as a long wait for the Metaverse, whereas I think $FB has openly said it would be 10—and I've heard some very intelligent individuals calling for 20 or even 30

Upcoming Earnings Calendar! (Nov 15th-19th)
Earnings season is slowly coming to a close, but there are still several highly interesting events coming up. Here's next week's earnings calendar and what I'll for looking forward to.

  • $SE: insights on their global e-commerce expansion.
  • $NVDA: comments on their product availability and supply.
  • $WMT: Update on their Walmart+ membership and comments on inflation/labor shortage/supply chain issues.
  • $DLO although this stock is too richly valued for me, I like their business and I'm following it in case there's a good buying opportunity post-earnings.
