According to Gallup, 58% of Americans have money invested in the stock market. Between 2001 and 2008, American stock ownership averaged 62%. That figure fell during the 2008 Financial Crisis and has not yet recovered.

Households earning $40,000 to $99,999: 61%
Households earning less than $40,000: 25%
