Had a sale yesterday that was triggered through a stop loss.
The stop loss was on
$CMA. This is an inherited position that was 100% of my portfolio when I began.
I have been working to trim down this position over the course of the last 2 years.
$CMA had a very strong run-up recently and had turned into a strong performer. I implemented a stop loss knowing that it could very quickly return to its lows and I wanted to capitalize on some gains.
I set the stop loss for 7 shares in October for 15% below its high. That hit yesterday at somewhere around $86
$CMA bounced back at the end of the day and ended up being positive on the day
I am glad I trialed a stop loss on a position I was looking to reduce, and only a small portion of the position
I am not sure how I feel about the stop loss and will have to do some serious thinking before implementing again.
