Apollo raises $130M to pioneer the Graph for app developers
Apollo makes open-source graph technology that makes app development faster and more accessible for everyone.

They are the leading open-source GraphQL implementation with 17M downloads per month and the only end-to-end cloud management solution for GraphQL.

GraphQL is an open-source data query and manipulation language for APIs, and a runtime for fulfilling queries with existing data. GraphQL was developed internally by Facebook in 2012 before being publicly released in 2015.

86% of JavaScript developers rank GraphQL as the top technology they want to learn.

The $130M Series D was led by Insight Ventures, with participation from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz and Matrix Partners.

This new round values Apollo at over $1.5B.

This is great. Financial applications are increasingly being driven by data accessed via APIs. GraphQL is like the Google AdWords of APIs allowing visibility into apps and data usage.

@aquiba that’s a good way to put it. APIs are going to continue to pull financial applications closer and closer together.
