@sammeciar Yea. it’s a very silly thesis imo. Cleaning fee transparency (and earlier in the checkout process) is vital, but people need to realize it’s the host that dictates those late lines items….stricter ruling by $ABNB for host justifying certain pricing would be nice but it’s a narrow sighted view to bet on the collapse of the entire novelty of the experience that Airbnb broadly offers simply bc of the cleaning fees..
I’ve had very pleasant experiences without heinous cleaning fees. Just don’t rent a party house with 15 other people for a weekend at a music festival and the ‘normal’ options are plentiful 😂
I often refer back to the analogy when people unjustly try to compare Snap to Facebook just bc they are both in a social media bucket…rather ignorant to pretend they are 1:1 when they are vastly different companies. I don’t even give those takes a single second of listening to. Airbnb does not need to directly be compared to hotels in the same breath when both can co-exist. Neither are goin anywhere, for many reasons.
