Reflecting on my first month writing options
January 2024 was the first month that I've decided to take my financial journey to the next level. Rather than relying solely on the dividends of covered call ETFs, I've started to write covered calls on $PFE and $KWEB.
Here's how my transactions went for the month:
- Jan 8, sold $PFE weekly call option with $30 strike price for $21.34
- Jan 15, sold $PFE weekly call option with $29 strike price for $9.34
- Jan 22, sold $PFE weekly call option with $29.5 strike price for $3.34
- Jan 23, sold $KWEB weekly call option with $25.5 strike price for $10.34
- Jan 29, sold $PFE weekly call option with $28.5 strike price for $8.34
- Jan 29, sold $KWEB weekly call option with $25 strike price for $8.34
In total, I made $61.04 in option premium for the month. The cost of my 100 shares of Pfizer was near $3,000 and the cost of my 100 shares of KWEB was near $2,500. I'm happy with the results and I look forward to utilizing covered calls more as time goes on. Especially with my stock pick for 2024 being the rebound of Chinese equities, I'm debating on whether to continue buying more KWEB in hopes of expanding my covered call income or to continue piling into my main holdings: $QYLD RYLD and $XYLD.
