It seems easy for celeb’s to make significant exits when they use their brand for promotion. Lots of example similar to this. Would be interesting to see the average CAGR of celebrities vs the market!

Wow this is actually super interesting 👀 I wonder which celeb is the best at this

@dividenddollars gotta be some bigger wins out there than Reynolds. Shaq comes to mind 🤔

@beaver_cap Rihanna with her Fenty makeup and Savage clothing line turned her into a billionaire. I would guess that she makes the list.

I think Ryan Reynolds is still in the $350 million range for net worth.

I believe he could make $70 million in cash and more than $200 million worth of T-Mobile stock post-tax after the MintMobile deal goes through.

@nathanworden wild! Pretty crazy that celebs often do it in some of the toughest businesses too (clothing, makeup, restaurants, etc)

@beaver_cap Shaq is a great one. I also think of The Rock😂

@beaver_cap that actually makes sense to me— they’re tough businesses because there is so much competition, but one way to stand out is to have a big celebrity endorsement.

Couple that with the fact that celebrities probably have more interest and experience with an everyday product like clothes, makeup, and restaurants, (as opposed to cloud computing, or some other business with better margins), and you’ve got the businesses that celebrity’s are most likely to start.

@nathanworden another fun iteration of this is looking at the celebrity endorsed brands that completely failed 😄

@nathanworden haha yes! FTX comes to mind…. 😂

@from100kto1m agreed. I didn’t know this about him - makes you wonder how many private investments celebrities have out there

I think we will see many more of these „side businesses“ of celebs in the future as it is an easy way to generate money with their „brand“

Curious if these are his investment decisions or are investments promoted by his money management firm / family office…

@stock.owl good point! Prob a bit of both is my guess as most have a family office but are still involved in some decision making

Mint Mobile certainly a profitable endeavour, but the Wrexham project, like all football clubs, likely a money black hole!
